b kinder workbooks
Through prevention and early intervention our evidence-based well-being programs help children in their pivotal years by encouraging them to become kinder, more empathetic and more compassionate.
With the help of teachers and psychologists we put together three b kinder workbooks for primary school children which are unique, positive, interactive learning tools that initiate discussions surrounding emotions that can be difficult for the young to communicate. The program aims to build empathy, compassion, resilience and confidence while encouraging students to identify and develop their strengths, to self-regulate their emotions and to make a difference through kindness.
Our b kinder workbook programs have been independently reviewed and added to the Be You Programs Directory, a searchable database of evidence-based mental health and wellbeing resources.
Billie’s inspiring poems and stories are the cornerstone of the b kinder workbooks. The workbooks embed the social, emotional and learning units which incorporate the core values with a particular emphasis on kindness. The activities within the b kinder workbooks also support teachers to meet the specific learning outcomes for each stage associated with the Personal and Social Capability, one of the General Capabilities outlined within the Australian curriculum. The associated units of work align with the Australian Curriculum: Personal Development, Health and Physical Education K-6. These units of work focus on the strands of Health, Wellbeing and Relationships.
Flexibility of the b kinder workbooks means that they can work alongside existing programs such as bounce back, grow your mind, the resilience project or URstrong.
Campion Education now distribute our b kinder workbooks. Schools can contact Campion or the b kinder foundation to add our resources to your annual booklists.

testimonials
"b kinder is a rich and authentic program which helps educators embed the explicit teachings of wellbeing into all aspects of teaching. It encourages students to identify and develop their strengths and talents, to self-regulate their emotions and to show empathy as they explore and understand the stories and experiences of those around them."
Nicole Gruman Vice Principal, Moriah College
"They are of great help in initiating discussion surrounding emotions that can be difficult for the young to communicate and they do this in a charming and creative way that encourages clarity, comfort and kindness and allowing open, free expression and valid self-introspection."
Dominic Westbrook, Counsellor, Gifted Minds
"I like the workbook because every time we use it, then when we go into the playground everyone is nice to each other."
Grade 3 student, International Grammar School, Ultimo

The units of work have been written in a way that means they can be picked up and taught as is (10 week program) or schools may want to use them as a sample and alter them as required.

Huber Social is an independent third party and expert in social impact measurement.
To measure the impact of the b kinder workbooks, the b kinder foundation has partnered with Huber Social. The way that Huber Social measures impact is unique, in that they focus on measuring the overall Wellbeing of people/children, alongside all the driving factors that contribute to someone's Wellbeing (such as mental health, resilience, relationships, life skills etc.) To this end, we have created surveys to collect data either from students or teachers.
The measurement framework measures shifts in the Wellbeing (impact) and target outcomes for the students participating in the initiative each year. The b kinder workbooks show the greatest impact across factors in mental health, relationships and communication skills, personal development and resilience factors.
There will be two types of surveys, depending on the age of children completing the b kinder workbooks:
Children 8 years or older - will complete a survey about their own wellbeing, capabilities and opportunitiesChildren 7 years and under - teachers will evaluate the capability levels of their classrooms based on their observations and knowledge of their students.
