Benefits of volunteering
We all lead a busy life, it can be hard to find time to volunteer and give up our time for a well deserving charity or community organisation. However, the benefits of volunteering can be invaluable, achieving great things for the community or people you are assisting, and also helping better ourselves. Volunteering does not have to involve long-term commitment or take a lot of time out of our busy day. Giving, even in a small way, not only helps your chosen charity or organisation, but can help make a difference to you by building connections, expanding career skills and creating new opportunities. Anne Frank once stated, ‘You can always, always give something, even if it is only kindness’.
Meeting Danny and Dave was a special moment for me, the passion they have for #flyhighbillie is remarkable, and inspirational. There is something truly special about being able to volunteer at #flyhighbillie, contributing to their vision and mission towards the greater good. I enjoy using my experience to help #flyhighbillie promote and spread the word of kindness. John F. Kennedy believed ‘every person can make a difference, and every person should try’. Sometimes we do not realise the impact we make in volunteering to an organisation, but to help such a great cause, to give through human kindness, is enormous and important to me. I have used my volunteering opportunity to encourage businesses to get involved in connecting their people with one kindness step at a time. #flyhighbillie initiatives are a great opportunity for teams to connect and keep corporate values true.
Charitable businesses can earn a reputation as being ‘good’ businesses and increase their accountability. For example, company employees take part in the initiatives, buy a t-shirt, make a donation, and give to others. The business matches any monies raised, by supporting a charity; building a tangible and sustained relationship between a business and charity partners, is an all-round win. #flyhighbillie strives to empower others to make a difference. The monies raised make a positive impact at minimal cost by providing vital resources to help children combat bullying, increase mental health awareness and the prevention of childhood suicide. The resources have been developed with the expertise of teachers and psychologists, and are in-line with PDHPE curriculums which are unique and positive interactive learning tools that help children to explore and express what it means to be kind.
Being part of the #flyhighbillie team, making a positive contribution to individuals through kindness initiative is fulfilling and rewarding
